Outfit Of The Day: This Japanese DJ Caused Cannes-nesia In Stella McCartney
What is Cannes and why do we care? We can’t seem to remember now that Mademoiselle Yulia — a Japanese DJ and singer who we admittedly had to Google — showed up at a Stella McCartney party in Tokyo bright and stunning in canary yellow.
Since the occasion happened to be a presentation of Stella’s Fall/Winter collection, it’s no shock that Mademoiselle came representing the designer. She wore a modified look from Spring 2013, with a white swatch filling in the formerly chest-bearing mesh panel. That change might’ve been made to better suit the room — this party happened to take place at the British embassy — or because, like most human beings, she’s shorter than a runway model and the see-through pane just didn’t land in the right spot. Or because Emma Stone wore it the same way. Whatever the motive, we are picking up what this Mademoiselle’s putting down.
It’s not just the dress that’s got us glancing back again and again. Her better-than-Katy-Perry blue hair is a bold move, especially in contrast with the sunset style eye makeup. It kind of looks like she’s setting her sights on a MAC collaboration with all those brights and we’d certainly take the bait if one should arise. While checking out our OOTD in the gallery below, take note of the snooze-inducing party room and the “entertainment” which appears to be water-color caricatures. Fun?
