PHOTOS: How Does Marina, The 25-Foot-Tall Target Puppet, Work?

We were bumming around Lincoln Center yesterday when we ran into a group of people disassembling Marina, the 25-foot tall puppet who “blogs” for Target and wears very, very large sizes of its collaboration with Missoni almost exclusively. While we were there, we got an inside look at how Marina’s entourage (which is actually just a small army of technicians and puppeteers) keep her moving.

There’s one technician who holds a massive remote control that moves Marina’s eyes and eyelids. She explained to us that there’s a guy inside who moves her head around, and everything else is manual. Fun, right? Take a look at the operation, below.
