Marni’s Debut Evening Collection Is A Bedazzled, Fur-Trimmed Dream
While we can definitely see the benefits of having a well-tailored LBD pressed and ready to go, Marni’s debut evening collection is making us think a little more adventurously. Wide-legged short longs, floor-length crepe satin and bedazzled cropped sweaters – these are our new night-time jams, and we have a new self-imposed rule regarding minimum pieces of flare.
Consuelo Castiglioni has been thinking in block colors for a couple of seasons now, amping up the volume and reigning in her signature graphic prints. The brand’s new evening collection, which works with a palette of black, white and blood red, likewise keeps color to a minimum while letting embellishment and über-luxe textures do the talking. Or the yelling, if you’re talking about the embroidered belted coat with nutria fur cuffs, which is staring into our eyeballs and crying out to be taken home and cared for like a real human child.
The collection hits stores worldwide in November. Silk duchesse tops start at $600 while the aforementioned raffia comes with a price tag of $5,530 (sob). And don’t forget accessories: Corolla-shaped platforms, bejeweled flat sandals, crystal-frosted leather loafers and embroidered bags trimmed with fur. Makes the BET Awards look like shared lunch in the accounts department.
