Martha Stewart To Interview DVF And Other Fashion Giants

Ever since Martha Stewart started interviewing fashion people on her show, we’ve been keeping tabs on her work in the industry. We didn’t think it could get much better than her glamorous modeling gig with Chanel, but we might have made that call a little too early.
The LA Times reports that Stewart is working on a prime-time interview special called “Martha Stewart Presents: The Women Who Dress America.” The one hour program will feature interviews with Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, Tory Burch and Jenna Lyons. It’s scheduled to air on Sept. 19 at 9 p.m., right at the end of Fashion Week.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring our viewers a different side of the world of fashion,” said Stewart in a press release, “and a better understanding of the challenges and rewards of being on fashion’s front lines.”
And while we are sure to be in front of a television when the special airs, we have to wonder whether the Martha Stewart audience is all that interested in fashion. Truth be told, we think she’s almost as fabulous as Karl Lagerfeld, but we get the impression that most of the rest of her fans are more worried about their recipe for rhubarb pie than they are about what they wear. Emili Vesilind, who wrote the LA Times story, also asked whether Stewart is the right person to do the interviews.
But she’s proved over the years that she can do no wrong, and we’re looking forward to seeing her interviews. More “Martha Stewart Presents” specials are planned, though the next one won’t air until November.
