Today’s Daily Dior Rumor: Léonard Designer Confirms Negotiations

In what has unintentionally become a daily feature, today’s installment of Who Will Replace Galliano At Dior? involves the 27-year-old “wunderkind” designer of French fashion house Léonard.

Earlier today, Women’s Wear Daily reported that Maxime Simoens and Léonard were expected to part ways, and furthermore, that Dior had allegedly been courting the young designer. In their initial report, WWD said Simoens had “repeatedly denied… that he has had any contact with Dior” and that both Simoens and Léonard declined to comment.

At this afternoon’s show, however, WWD spoke to both Simoens and the managing director of the brand, Nathalie Tribouillard-Chassaing.

…Nathalie Tribouillard-Chassaing appeared flustered when asked to confirm the report. “I don’t know what these rumors are about. This is not at all topical. We are doing the show, and we’ll see what happens afterward,” she said. Questioned backstage before models went out on the catwalk, Simoens was equally evasive. “There is nothing to comment because we are in negotiations. For the moment, nothing is happening. So when something happens, we’ll talk about it,” he said.

Unless something about “negotiations” was lost in translation, it sounds to us like something is, in fact, happening.
