The Met Gala exists for pretty much one reason and one reason only: capital-F Fashion. (And don’t let the name Costume Institute confuse you — costume is just an academic term for clothing.) While some of last night’s looks made our jaws drop in a really good way, others were hideous, boring, and/or inappropriate. It’s our duty to call these looks (and the people who wore them) out, so these style sins are never repeated ever again. But really, everyone should know: when in doubt, go McQueen.

While I don’t particularly love Dakota’s Versace gown, I do think it’s age appropriate. I think people often forget that she is still just a young girl. I would be upset to see her in a slinky, bodycon, or highly revealing gown. The dress looks nice on her.
