WATCH: Michelle Obama Talks Target Shopping Trip With Letterman

Update: Michelle Obama’s color-blocked dress is from Preen’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection.

First Lady Michelle Obama made her first appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman Monday night, where the pair talked dog walking, the danger of Slurpees, and undercover shopping trips.

Obama wore a delightfully color-blocked dress in green, blue, and white, which she accessorized with diamond studs and the same Alexis Bittar brooch she wore to the State of the Union address in January. Letterman and Obama appeared to get along swimmingly, though our favorite part of their conversation was her recap of that now infamous Target shopping trip.

I went to Target. I thought I was undercover. But I have to tell you something about this trip though. No one knew that was me, because a woman actually walked up to me — I was in the detergent aisle — and she said — I kid you not! — she said, ‘Excuse me, I just have to ask you something.’
And I thought, ‘Oh, my cover’s blown.’

She said, ‘Can you reach on that shelf and grab me the detergent?’ I kid you not. And the only thing she said — I reached up, because she was short — and I reached up, pulled it down, and she said, ‘Well, you didn’t have to make it look so easy.’”

The pair also talked about Bo, which is worth watching if only for Letterman’s Joe Biden quip at the end.

Oh good grief, “I thought I was undercover”.  That is laughable.  That was a shameless photo op to try to get people to believe she’s just like them.  Sorry lady, the average American can’t afford to send their 13 year old to Mexico for spring break and doesn’t hang out at Martha’s Vineyard and take extravagent trips to Europe.  Though in her defense, we paid for a lot of that.

I love the Target story! It’s nice that she’s able to have some normalcy while being in the White House.

Are you saying that Americans can’t or don’t go
on vacations? I travel (and most of my friends) but never been to
Martha’s Vineyard. I’ve been to some beautiful places. I’m not rich but I know how to save and budget to make it
    happen.

No I’m not saying that.  I’m saying she is a lying hypocrite.  Her and Barack rail everyday against the so-called 1%’ers that are ruining this country, when in reality, they are part of that group.  The only difference, is the American taxpayer is on the hook for a lot of their travels, whereas the typical 1% pays their own way.
