PHOTO: Michelle Obama Shops At Big Chain Stores, Just Like Us!

So this is an interesting image. Normally regal-looking First Lady Michelle Obama went shopping in Alexandria, VA yesterday. But she didn’t go to any fancy boutiques or even to a big department store. Instead, she spent some time walking up and down the aisles at one of our favorite mass-brand markets.

The Associated Press snapped this picture of Mrs. O at Target. Yes, Target the same store we probably pop into once a week to check and see of that nifty one-dollar bin near the door has any new merchandise in it. So what is one of the world’s most powerful women doing in such a store? Well, keeping it real, probably.

Her office described the trip as a routine errand, but had no comment on what she bought — though we’d place our bets on a bag of mint Milanos and some of those nifty plates from the Missoni for Target collection.

A spokeswoman for the First Lady said Obama does stuff like this pretty often:

“It is not uncommon for the first lady to slip out to run an errand, eat at a local restaurant or otherwise enjoy the city outside the White House gates,” said Kristina Schake, communications director for the first lady.

Did we need another reason to love her? We didn’t, but we’re still adding this to the list.

This photo was delivered in 2009 (Huffington Post). No telling when it was taken and like others, where are the Secret Service personel or the White House staffers that are to plan for her safety. Maybe she felt the love of the public and thought she was invincible at the time. Whatever the case, I still believe that this was someone who bears a striking resemblance but her hips aren’t big enough nor are her arms muscular enough to be the first lady we saw at the inauguation.
