Will Michelle Obama Grace the Cover of Vogue Again?

We don’t like to trade in rumors here, but this is one we couldn’t resist. Word has it that first lady Michelle Obama will be featured on the cover of Vogue‘s December issue. In a market dominated by single-copy sales and ad page percentages, putting Obama on the cover would be a calculated risk for Anna Wintour and company. December covers at most fashion glossies are normally dominated by starlets beating down the war path to award-show season (last December’s Vogue cover girl was Cate Blanchett; the December before that it was Jennifer Anniston).

But Michelle Obama has an undeniable newsstand allure. When she was on the cover of the magazine last March, that issue sold over half a million copies at the newsstand, which Daily Front Row says made March 2009 one of the magazine’s best-selling editions in recent history. Covers for Essence, People, Glamour, Good Housekeeping and Condé Nast Traveler, among others, followed the Vogue cover.

We wish we had a six-month lead time to figure out what we were going to put on the front page of Styleite.com, but we’ll have to wait and see what Vogue does in December to know for sure.

I hope she won’t grace the cover. Too much exposure of the people in the WH makes me want to vomit. Overkill, if you ask me.
