Miley Cyrus Does ‘Ladylike Punk’ In Proenza Schouler
‘Ladylike punk’ is a phrase that makes us want to ram the backspace key as we type, but we’re not sure how else to describe the look Miley Cyrus had going on at the premiere of Paranoia in Los Angeles last night.
In tow to
upstage accompany her actor beau Liam Hemsworth, Miley squeezed into a studded, patchworked and perforated leather look from Proenza Schouler’s Spring 2013 collection. She then weirdly yet kinda awesomely accessorized it with bright white Céline pumps and a Chanel shoulder bag, which she in turn subverted with a chunky bracelet shaped like a monster builder’s nail. We’re equal parts confused, impressed and jealous, which seems to be Miley’s aim these days. Couture on a motorcycle, anyone?
Amber Heard disappointed us by leaving Johnny Depp at home, but we do have to admit that a person who can’t help but dress like a disorientated cowboy would make an ill-suited accessory for her soft blue Vionnet gown. Instead she went with David Yurman jewelry and posed with two generations of man candy, so we’re satisfied.
Also yes, that is Matilda‘s teacher Miss Honey, also known as Embeth Davidtz, rocking a shaven head and sheer black lace. Miley’s already taken the credit for one drastic crop this week, so we’ll just say you’re never too old to shake up your image.
