Muammar Gaddafi Was Wearing A Wig When He Died
A medical examination of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi revealed that he was wearing a wig (a wig!) when rebel forces shot and killed him Thursday.

The Washington Post reports that doctors at a hospital performed a number of tests to confirm Gaddafi’s identity, including taking samples of his hair for DNA testing. But the hair on Gaddafi’s head didn’t actually belong there, as, again, it was a wig. We gather (and hope) the doctors didn’t need a DNA test to confirm that.
Gadaffi had been hiding from rebel forces in his hometown of Sirte, one of the last places in Libya still loyal to his regime. Pro-democracy fighters, aided by NATO troops and strong national support, had been fighting to bring Gaddafi’s rule to an end for since the so-called Arab Spring protests eight months ago.

But long before that, Gaddafi had been known for his flamboyant style of dress and his desire to appear youthful and attractive. He was even rumored to have a surgeon flown to Libya to perform a number of cosmetic procedures on him, and one rebel soldier reported taking a gold-plated gun from his body. Still, we find it a little surprising that even in hiding — and in a sewage system, no less — with no public appearances to attend and no government to run singlehandedly, Gaddafi’s vanity prevailed. In the form of a wig.
