WATCH: Meet The Knitters Behind Mulberry’s Fall 2012 Collection

Even though it’s designers that take the bow at the end of a fashion show, we know that for the most part they aren’t the ones that physically create the pieces. Instead, a group of pattern makers, seamstresses, and assistants are the ones handling the samples. For fall 2012, Mulberry sent out a slew of models clad in thick knits, and in their short film Spinning a Yarn we get to meet two of the ladies behind the pieces.

Margaret and Valerie are knitters for Scottish company Eribé, which manufactures hand-made knitwear. They were sent patterns for Mulberry’s fall collection, and hand-knit each piece. The ladies have been knitting since they were little girls, and Valerie even says she’s been doing it for 70 years. Both are incredibly happy about knitting for a living, but admit that Mulberry’s intricate pattern and color combinations are tricky. Still, they seem pretty darn satisfied doing what they do!
