WATCH: The Mystery Of The Mislabeled Vintage Pirelli Shoot

It’s no secret that we love ourselves a vintage video around here — and half the reason we love them is the mystery! What year was it? Where is the accompanying editorial spread? Can we name every model and figure out the photographer? It’s like a super fun game of fashion trivia. But today, dear readers, we found one that stumped us. Featuring Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Kate Moss, and three unknown models, the clip is described as a “Rare Pirelli” video, but we’re not so sure. Can you help us out?

Here’s the video:

A few things — like we said, we’ve identified three of the six models (Naomi, Kate, and Christy), but can’t figure out the remaining three. In the final second of the clip, we get to see the photog’s face — which reveals a wonderfully hirsute Patrick Demarchelier. But the only Pirelli calendars Demarchelier shot were in 2005 and 2008 — while the models (and the high-cut underwear) make it clear that this shoot took place in the 90s.

We’ve searched high and low for a shoot by Patrick featuring those three supers in black tanks and matching panties, but have come up empty handed. Can you help us figure out the other three models — or, even better, the final editorial? There will be a prize of some sort, we promise!

Naomi Campbell is clearly on the left, but who is the leggy blonde with the shorn hair next to her?

3.Who Are The Other Two Girls?

The identities of the platinum blonde pixie in the foreground and the tall brunette next to Christy also elude us. Ideas?

4.Photographer Patrick Demarchelier

The last second of the clip shows the photographer, which is plainly Patrick Demarchelier -- a crucial clue!

Yes Bridgett Hall is correct the other two models names are on the tip of my tongue. One is British and the other canadian. They both had petty short careers since they were apart of the waif movement. Which barely last 2 years.

The shoot is not for pirelli. It was actuallly for The Gap and the footage was taken by Robert Lecock for the documentry “Catwalk” which followed a model (Christy) during collections in Milan/Paris/NYC. Why do you never see this movie, it still has not been released on DVD. Only VHS. Simply search on YouTube “christy catwalk” and you can find a 9 part movie which includes this footage. I use to have the actual magazine ad but I think it’s in storage somewhere. The footage was shot in October 1993 at spring 94 collections.

We had our suspicions about Bridget Hall but weren’t sure. We’ve posted clips from Catwalk before but haven’t managed to see the whole thing! Now we’re on the hunt for these so-called Gap ads — those are some big name models for a mall store. Thanks for the tip!

That’s right! I was trying to remember Beri’s name. She’s gorgeous. Mystery solved, yes?
