Naomi On Behalf Of Models Everywhere: ‘We Want Magazine Covers Back!’

The original supers like Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, and Stephanie Seymour still land magazine covers, editorials, and ad campaigns here and there, but they have had to share the spotlight with younger models, celebs, actresses, and sadly, reality stars. Well, Campbell is not going to stand for that, and in an interview with Celebuzz, says that models like her want to take back the mag covers for good.

The super is producing and mentoring young models on her new reality television competition, The Face, and was just featured in Elle. But even then, she doesn’t land as many covers as, say, Kristen Stewart or Emma Stone. She explains to Celebuzz:

“Of course, we want the magazine covers back. Of course, we do. There are less covers for the girls out there who are the new, young, trendy girls. She’s got more to compete with and there are only a certain amount of covers they’re going to give a model a year. Before, you had models twelve months a year.”

She also touched on the fact that runway models should land more ad campaigns and editorials, though we should point out that plenty of runway girls straddle that line:

“When I started modeling, there was a separation of girls that did shows and girls that did print. And my generation did both. That’s when it changed.”

So what should magazines do — bring back the models, or keep rotating celebs? Neither seems like a perfect answer to us, but we want to hear your thoughts. Chime in below!

Bring back the Models of course, if I want to see a celebrity on a cover, I will buy a tabloid not a fashion magazine.
I think its time all the magazines realize how bad this is for the models and even the fashion community.

Magazine covers should be for models. Celebrities have plenty of other magazines to cover. 9 out of 10 times if a celebrity is on the cover, I pass.
