Awesome Natural Hair Group Gives Barbie An Afro For Christmas

Well, this is the best. An African-American natural hair group in Georgia is gifting natural hair Barbies this holiday season.

While there are indeed black Barbies, Candace McBride (who is spearheading the project) noted that nearly all dolls have straight hair: “It’s tricky even to find ones with brown eyes.” So she took to the internet and found a tutorial on how to make natural-looking doll hair. The group plans to give away 40 dolls to girls this Christmas.

Explained member Jennifer Henderson to the Ledger-Enquirer: “We wanted to show the girls that basically, it’s okay the way God made you.” Now that’s a holiday message we can get behind.
