Does Comedy Central Want To Be More Like Chanel?
Not too long ago, our sister site Mediate wrote about Comedy Central‘s new logo. When we saw it, we thought it was a joke. Because the new design doesn’t look like it belongs to a channel where you can watch people be funny and sometimes offensive (we’re talking to you, Daniel Tosh) so much as it does a high-end clothing line. And not just any high end clothing line, but the premiere high-end French clothing line, Chanel.
No, seriously. Look at the new font, the understated use of black and white and the C’s that have entwined themselves around one another and tell us you don’t see the similarities.
We’ve seen bad logos from clothing companies before, and while this isn’t necessarily as mindbogglingly hideous as the updated Gap logo or the one Urban Outfitters rolled out last month, it’s still not true to the brand it’s supposed to represent. And at the end of the day, that’s probably a bigger offense than simple ugliness.
