Vogue Gives Nicki Minaj The Smurf Treatment
Alas, Nicki Minaj’s dream of a Vogue cover didn’t come true, but she did get a pretty nifty consolation prize in the form of a blue-tinted profile inside the March issue of the fashion bible.

For the Steven Klein lensed shoot, Vogue took the liberty of painting Minaj blue because… well, we don’t know why exactly, but it probably has something to do with her propensity for bright colors and her sartorial resemblance to a cartoon. Anyway! We also learn a few things about the rapper, like how she grew up wanting to be a lawyer and used to wear “Tommy Hilfiger baggy shirts and Boss jeans”. But we were most blown away by the fact that she used to spend $50,000 a month on “Giuseppe, Versace, YSL, and Fendi shoes. And I bought tons of Vuitton bags. When you’re a young girl from Queens, you’re going to stock up on those bags.”
Guess she’s just getting them for free now.
