Nicola Formichetti To Launch His Own High-Tech Clothing Line Next Year

As if Nicola Formichetti wasn’t busy enough at Mugler, Haus of Gaga, Uniqlo, and Vogue Hommes Japan, he’s also designing a new line of high-tech apparel set to launch online in mid-2013.

The Formichetti collection is being developed in New York and will feature clothing and accessories that incorporate solar power. Some might even charge a wearer’s phone! He explains to WWD:

“It’ll be very digitally oriented and high-tech. We’ve been working with the same fabrics, the same techniques for hundreds of years. That’s all great, but we need something new. Why do you have to have a zipper when you can have a jacket that’s molded to your body?”

Yeah, zippers are the worst.
