Nicola Formichetti Wants Old People To ‘Just Go Away’

Is it just us, or does it seem like fashion designers are incapable of thinking before they speak? Nicola Formichetti, fresh off his last controversy, is at it again. The designer’s latest slip-up was a swipe at the elderly.

In an interview in the July issue of Elle Collection, Gaga‘s stylist and Mugler creative director said, “I think old people should just be old and go away.” Before we go too hard on the guy, we should clarify that we think the remark refers to older designers since Formichetti adds, “It’s not about being in the industry for ten years anymore: it’s about good ideas.” Which, sure, except we’ll happily point to Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani, Vivienne Westwood, and Karl Lagerfeld as examples of bona fide senior citizens who continue to kill it in the design field.

It was just a few weeks ago that the designer took some heat for telling W he didn’t want to work with fat people. Formichetti is still claiming he was misquoted, but his defense was a little weak and laced with a few unsavory comments.

Mugler’s top man also gave Elle the scoop on his muse, Gaga, saying the pop star “feels like an outsider” and “doesn’t know she is cool. She knows she is a superstar but the fashion industry is completely different for an outsider. It still has this elitist feeling — it’s really scary.”

Another memorable quote from the interview: Formichetti told Elle, “Me and Gaga, our motto is ‘f*** fashion’ because we love it so much we want to destroy it and start again and keep it fresh.” We don’t really get it but hey, Formichetti sure knows how to keep things interesting.

can’t help but dislike this guy… If he refers to old people in fashion like designers… Oh Gosh! We’re so screwed, because if someone like him runs fashion for the next generation, space age from Pierre Carding will be nothing compared to it…
What would we do when fashion is headed by people like him?! Glamour and other things as we know them will be nothing but a memory. If I could take someone away, would be him!

PD: I don’t consider he can create something similar to what Karl, Armani or Chanel herself have done…

Since I’m fat, this jerk does nothing for me. He doesn’t like me when he hasn’t even met me? Fine, I have heard his remarks and guess what, I don’t like him. I do not care if he never sells another piece of clothing. He is dead to me. Boy, that felt good to say that.

This fuck face was born in May 31, 1977 (age 34). This means 40 is around the corner and 50… well I’m sure dude to the fact that hes so hyped up on coke. i mean vitamin C still I’m not sure if he makes 50. I know hell never be around the age of Karl Lagerfeld (age77), Alber Elbaz (age 50), or Azzedine Alaia, which is at age 71. and they are the masters of the art of fashion.

I want Italian fashion designers who look just like Pee Wee Herman to go away.
