After ogling Lady Gaga‘s ethereal Vanity Fair September cover, we couldn’t help but scour the cover archives for some of nudity’s most celebrated moments — forever immortal on the front pages of fashion’s major publications.

When it comes to sales, publicity, and making history, nudity is the way to do it! The image of Demi Moore nude and peacefully pregnant is forever etched in our minds thanks to Vanity Fair‘s August 1991 issue. On the front page of i-D’s August 2007 issue, we saw more than just a glimpse of then-rising British model Daisy Lowe — just shy of her 18th birthday, of course.
