It’s only fitting that the opening of a ballet whose costumes were designed by none other than the legendary Valentino Garavani would have a red carpet just as glamorous as the ensembles on stage.
All the hallmark signs of Valentino were out in full force at Lincoln Center last night: long sleeves, evening jumpsuits, romantic florals, and of course, his signature scarlet hue. Capes were also big news — Sarah Jessica Parker wore an ivory satin version atop her sheer gown, Karolina Kurkova opted for a dramatic, floor-sweeping piece, and one of the brothers Brant paid tribute to fashion’s own Emperor in a jaunty Napoleonic number. Also there to celebrate the occasion were a bevy of designers, from Tory Burch to Diane von Furstenberg, as well a glowing Anne Hathaway, no doubt showing her support for the just-revealed designer of her sure-to-be-stunning wedding gown.
