Oprah Is Going To Interview Ralph Lauren (Again) For Charity!

What happens when you put two fascinating, influential billionaires on stage at the most fashion-y performing venue in the world? We don’t know, but when Oprah interviews designer Ralph Lauren at New York’s Lincoln Center this fall, we’re going to find out.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that Oprah and Lauren will meet again (she interviewed the designer on one of the last episodes of her talk show earlier this year) to talk about Lauren’s life and career. Access to the event is invitation only, and as proceeds from it are going to charity, we’re guessing the tickets are going to cost one very pretty penny. Lauren explains:

“I am so proud to have my dear friend Oprah join me onstage for this special evening to celebrate and support two important New York organizations, the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts,” Lauren said.

Worthy causes, to be sure — but attendees won’t just be getting a tax write off in exchange for watching to very wealthy people chat. After the interview in Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, there will be a gala dinner in Avery Fisher Hall. Food!

The entire event is an attempt to bring more fashion to the Center, which now plays host to New York Fashion Week. Reynold Levy, the Center’s president, told WWD that he wants fashion to “become a more enduring and visible part of the creative spectrum at Lincoln Center.” So does fashion finally count as art? We’re not sure, but we think a few marquee events at Lincoln Center every year won’t hurt the case that it might be.
