Mugler Campaign Star And Olympian Charged With Murder Of Girlfriend
Oscar Pistorius, the first-ever double amputee to run in the Olympics and the face of Thierry Mugler‘s A*Men fragrance, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
According to reports, the 26-year-old South African was arrested early this morning after police responded to gunshots in his home in Pretoria. Paramedics treated Steenkamp, but she had been shot four times and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 30-year-old was a law school graduate, model, and reality TV star.
Pistorius allegedly told local media that he had mistaken his girlfriend for a burgler, but police have disputed this claim, saying they have responded to complaints of a “domestic nature” at the house before.
The runner became the face of Mugler’s men’s fragrance in 2011. In the ad, he is shown sprinting in metal prosthetics coated in futuristic chrome designed by Mugler and artist Stefano Canulli, although something tells us this is one campaign we won’t be seeing around much anymore.
