Paulina On Harrassment: ‘We Used To Take It As A Compliment’

Paulina Porizkova is featured in About Face, a documentary about models from fashion’s hey-day in the ’70s and ’80s. Her take on growing up in front of the camera doesn’t mince words.

In the film, Rossellini says modeling taught her it was “essential not to depend on fathers and husbands.” Porizkova got a twisted take on praise. “What people called sexual harassment, we called compliments,” she said in the film. “When a 16-year-old girl is flattered by a man pulling out his penis, that’s noteworthy.”

The film will air on HBO this summer and also features the likes of Carmen Dell’Orifice, Christy Turlington, Eileen Ford, Beverly Johnson, and Carol Alt.
