WATCH: Professionally Pretty People Discuss Body Image With Vogue

For the past 10 years, Vogue‘s shape issue has aimed to highlight different body types. As such, it’s unfortunate that the title of a behind-the-scenes video of a conventional models-only shoot for the issue is “Vogue Diaries: ‘Perfect’ Shapes”. Sigh.

Yes, Joan Smalls, Daria Werbowy, and Raquel Zimmermann have bodies that are as close to perfect as you can imagine. But the title just sits wrong, as the video is a companion to an issue that alleges to celebrate all shapes — “perfect” or not. Anyway, if you want to watch Daria lament that she has the same legs as her 53-year-old dad while she wears that amazing Lanvin dress Emma Stone rocked at the BAFTA Awards, have at it:

“Yes, Joan Smalls, Daria Werbowy, and Raquel Zimmermann have bodies that are as close to perfect as you can imagine.”

Shame on you, Stylite! When you say this, you only fortify the idea that there is a “perfect” body. You condemn the “‘perfect’ body” title that Vogue chose for the video, and then you yourself admit that you think there is such a thing as a perfect body, and that these models have it! What are you telling readers? You’re telling them the same thing Vogue is… that if they don’t look like these models, they are not even close to “close to perfect!”
