Petra Nemcova Wants The Social Network To Win At The Oscars

Reporters swirled around supermodel Petra Nemcova like moths flock to a flame Thursday before Luca Luca. We will unashamedly admit to being one of those moths — and how could we not be? Nemcova was gracious even in the face of a wall of reporters, all of whom wanted a little piece of her opinion. Here are a few of the things she had to say.

Biggest personal style rule: “Less is more. I think you need to leave a little bit for the imagination.”

She’s going to the Oscars, and she wants Jesse Eisenberg to win big: “I love The Social Network, so I hope there’s lots of awards coming their way.” (And no, she hasn’t picked her dress yet).

She can be sweet, even when people are simpering all over her. Nemcova answered all of the reporters’ questions so we’d all feel “comfortable and appreciated.”

She’s engaged (!), and her wedding dress will be Marchesa: “It will be Marchesa. We’ve already settled that.” Nothing else has been decided, though.

Her show list includes some pretty big names: “I have a few different shows. Vivienne Tam, Diesel, Tommy Hilfiger and Marchesa.”

She misses the runway, but not the stressful parts: “A few times, the shoes, which they had tied around my legs, they would start falling off — but that’s normal. You just have to take it with confidence and don’t let it throw you out of your rythym.”

I thought The Social Network was severely overrated and got most of its attention due to the subject matter rather than the movie as a whole. I’m a big David Fincher fan and he’s never let me down. Good movie but it didn’t make my Top Ten. I thought Howl was by far the best movie of the year with its combination of animation, acting (James Franco as Allen Ginsberg), and cinematography.
