PHOTO: Cara Delevingne Is Audrey Hepburn For Vogue Japan
Cara Delevingne doesn’t seem to have much in common with Audrey Hepburn. Though they share impeccable cheek bones, thick eyebrows, and millions of admirers worldwide, Delevingne’s teenage, party-girl vibe doesn’t really mirror Audrey demureness and class.
Nevertheless, when shooting a Vogue cover, it’s the cheekbones that matter, and for her Vogue Japan cover, Delevingne pretty much nailed it. The photo was shot by Patrick Demarchelier and styled by a genius. While channeling Audrey Hepburn is about as overdone and uninspired as editorial can get, the world’s most popular model updates Hepburn’s iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s look, with bigger hair, a sexier LBD, and more extreme cat-eye sunglasses. The modern interpretation coupled with the stripe in Delevingne’s bun and the two sleek cuffs makes the photo almost futuristic.
Also, it’s worth noting that this is Delevingne’s fourth Vogue cover in the last year, following shots for Britain, China, and Korea. She may by no means be Audrey Hepburn, but the world certainly loves her sunny, funny face.
