PHOTOS: Karl And Company Celebrate Chanel
Chanel celebrated the opening of its new SoHo store Thursday night, and with seven days left to go for NYFW, we can pretty definitively say that it was probably the party of the week. Between Blake Lively, Liv Tyler, Jessica Stam, and The Kaiser himself, there were more bold-faced names than we could tweet! (Though we most certainly tried.)
We spent most of the night starstruck, sitting just outside the store — which, despite what it sounds like, was still at the party; Chanel took over half a city block for their fete — where we could watch the photography flash mob as starlets, editors, and industry personas walked the red carpet.
We had a nice chat with Claire Danes, who told us all about her fifth grade graffiti habit — there was a large LED graffiti wall at the store, so this was an apropos topic — and then ran into Styleite faves Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman, both of whom were just as excited about the Guerlain Giveaway as we are! Naturally, we snapped a pic. (Which actually took three tries — Rodger kept closing his eyes. When we politely pointed that out, Zoe deadpanned, “Always.” Thankfully, third time is a charm!)
Besides Karl, Grace Coddington and her flaming mane might have been our most exciting sighting of the night, though the most meta was Elle editor in chief Roberta Myers, whose signature ‘do we spied (and tweeted about!) on arrival and who told us later she’d just received the Google Alert on her name from our tweet. Who says fashion and technology don’t mix?
PS. We subbed a couple of our phone pics because the paps didn’t catch a few of our faves.
PPS. Please take note that both Alexa Chung and Liv Tyler were wearing flats. Ladies after our own hearts.
