PHOTOS: That Other Young Royal Guy Is On The Cover Of British GQ
We could forgive you if, with all of that royal wedding coverage happening, you’d forgotten about His Royal Highness Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales, better known to the world as Prince Harry. Luckily, British GQ has not forgotten, and the May issue of the magazine will feature a world exclusive interview, in which the man third in line to the British throne will reveal his plan to walk to the North Pole, because that’s the kind of thing you can do when you don’t have to be king of an empire.
Prince Harry is the royal patron of a charity called Walking With the Wounded, which is trying to raise £2 million to help British soldiers who have been wounded during service. Prince Harry will walk to the North Pole with four soldiers who were hurt in Afghanistan and the organization’s founder, Edward Parker. The group hopes not only to raise money, but to prove that soldiers who might have lost limbs or who are traumatized as a result of their service can still do seemingly impossible things. Prince Harry will only join the group for a week of their trek, but said in a statement that people should do whatever they can by way of thanking their troops.
“This extraordinary expedition will raise awareness of the debt that this country owes to those it sends off to fight – only for them to return wounded and scarred, physically and emotionally. The debt extends beyond immediate medical care and short-term rehabilitation,” Prince Harry said. “These men and women have given so much. We must recognise their sacrifice, be thankful, so far as we can ever repay them for it.”
Proceeds from a special edition of the magazine with Prince Harry on the cover will go to the organization. Check out pictures of it below.
