Princess Beatrice’s Royal Wedding Hat Purchased For £81,000 On eBay

The eBay bidding for Princess Beatrice‘s infamous royal wedding hat has ended, and the winner shilled out a whopping $131,428 (or the current exchange for £81,000.01) for the now-iconic headpiece.

We’re not sure which of the 40 pre-approved bidders walked away with the fascinating fascinator, but we would really like to find out who he/she is and then ask if they plan to wear Philip Treacy‘s whimsical creation in public. More importantly, all of the proceeds are going to charity, with the money being split between UNICEF and Children in Crisis.

We have to imagine Kate and Prince William (who have just returned from their honeymoon in Seychelles!) more than approve. If you recall, they asked for donations in lieu of wedding gifts.
