WATCH: Models In Masks Dance Creepily For Proenza Schouler

So, you know, art. We think that’s what Harmony Korine was trying to create with his new short film for Proenza Schouler, but we just watched and we’re a little freaked out.

Yes, we get that Snowballs is sort of a statement about the South and loneliness and solitude and nature and a romantic ideal of beauty. All that notwithstanding, it’s a freaky four-and-a-half-minute video! Seriously — it mainly stars two models wearing masks dancing around what looks like an abandoned plot of land in gobs and gobs of Proenza. They both also wear fake indian headdresses and very plain masks that obscure their identities.

Then there’s an eeriliy confident older gentleman of size who invites the duo back to his house, tells them that it’s his birthday, dances with them and ends the night on an iron lung. All the while, it’s narrated with a child’s voice that says things like “I can make a stick dance. I can make a pea do a magic trick.”

Again, we don’t fail to see the artistry here. We’re also definitely not missing out on the fact that Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez maybe want us to feel uncomfortable. And we’re as disturbed by this video as we are by their $22,500 tulle dresses for spring.
