Project Runway: Casanova Channels His Grandma

We’ve got an abbreviated recap this week because I’ve just been so busy going to the Christian Siriano and Thakoon shows (just kidding – I get all my fashion background from Project Runway and The September Issue).

This week Casanova says goodbye, April wins with an assist from Christopher and, Michael Kors disses Forever 21.

This week the designers were paired with a fellow contestant who was in charge of executing their look. April got Christopher, but Mondo was stuck with Michael Costello who everyone hates, and Ivy got Michael Drummond who apparently is uncomfortable with a pant.

Here’s what happened (also, check out the potential spoilers that came from Project Runway at NYFW):

Quote of the Week: “I’m not really excited about this because your construction is awful” – Mondo to Costello. They eventually became friends, though.

Quote of the Week (that made me laugh, but feel bad for laughing): “Oh my God, she believe I’m a retard.” – Costello, after Gretchen used his trouble understanding English to act like he couldn’t understand pictures, too.

Quote of the Week (by Tim Gunn): “If you’re dark, make dark resort. There are those customers.”

Insult of the Week: “It just looks like a weird assemblage of clothes from Forever 21 that were on the sales rack.” – Kors of Mondo’s look. Runner-up: “It looks very inexpensive and it looks very junior.” – Nina Garcia

Fashion Term I Had to Look Up: Top-stitch Context: Basically just another time someone insulted Michael Costello’s technique.

Even I Knew This was a Bad Sign: Casanova started talking about his grandmother as his inspiration early in the show, and continued it on the runway.
