Could Pucci For Target Become A Reality?
At last night’s Harper’s Bazaar party for the new Pucci boutique at Saks, we didn’t just exchange jewelry with Chung, we also got to chat with Pucci creative director Peter Dundas. “It’s definitely more urban than lots of other places,” he said of New York. “But I think [the New York woman] has good taste jugding by what I’m seeing tonight. Pucci is very well at home here.” The designer wouldn’t tell us whose style inspires him (“I can’t say, it always gets me in trouble.”), but he did answer a question we’ve had for months now: would Pucci ever pull a Missoni and do a Target collaboration?
“You know, right now it’s just not something I’m considering, simply because we’re in an expansion phase ourselves. For me it’s very important to have control over that, but who knows in the future.”
He also told us he had a great time at his friend Anja Rubik’s Halloween party. Context: Rubik happened to be standing there in a gorgeous Pucci creation as Dundas told us this. (Further context: ten minutes before, we felt hands around our waist, turned around, and realized it was Rubik gently telling us that we were standing on her dress. We apologized profusely, and she was super nice!)
And no Bazaar party would be complete without a chat with EIC Glenda Bailey. She was digging Chung’s tunes — and style: “She’s one of the most stylish women ever — I love her.” While Bailey didn’t hit up Rubik and Kanye‘s Halloween bash, she did attend the V Magazine party with Alber Elbaz as her date. She wore “a hybrid of anything I happened to have in my closet”, and was grateful the weather let up. Agreed re: all, Glen.
