PHOTOS: Queen Elizabeth Gets Into The Olympic Spirit
What have you accomplished so far today? Lunch? Emails? Queen Elizabeth II has already donned her finest pink tweed, toured Diamond Day celebrations, viewed a parade, and unveiled a plaque at the Hereford Cathedral in West Midlands. Dont feel too bad, though. If you’re in our time zone, Liz does have a good six hours on you. Plenty of time to find a plaque to unveil!
Unfortunately, you probably won’t be able to compete with yesterday’s activities. The Queen met with French President François Hollande for the first time since he took office in May, and she did so in the most gilded of rooms Windsor Castle has to offer. Unable to match a hat to her dress indoors (etiquette, y’all!), she instead matched her dress to the décor. Crafty! She also ventured outdoors to see the Olympic flame continue its 8,000 mile journey, fending off that pesky English weather with a khaki cape and an umbrella fit for a queen.
