PHOTOS: Queen Elizabeth II Steps Out In One Stylin’ Hairnet

Look, we all know that Queen Elizabeth II has some seriously rockin’ style, but her latest look officially takes the (royal) cake. Her Highness stepped out on Monday for the Chelsea Flower Show in a robin’s egg blue skirt suit with a garden patterned top underneath. But while the colors were catchy, it was her embellished hairnet that really caught our eye.

Yep, you read that right: an embellished hairnet.

The Queen topped off her perfectly coiffed hair with black, dotted netting decorated with at least a dozen carefully tied black bows. Is it wrong that we’re (not so) secretly hoping this becomes a trend?

But you know what take the royal off, and you can see a old british woman wearing this and it would be endearing.

The queen looks lovely. She is not wearing a “hairnet” though, its a “Net Hat.” An everyday hairnet has a tight weave. They are made to keep the hair from the face and from landing in foods being prepared etc.
Net Hats have a loose open weave, a whimsical head piece one can wear instead of the usual formal ladies hat. Net Hats were very popular in the 50s early 60s. I believe Jackie O had one or two.

She has GREAT hair…and as lovely as the hats are, this way we get to se her face better…And I am old enough to tell you that in the early sixties they were quite the thing. She wears it well. Kerrie from Oz
