On Rachel Zoe’s ‘Astronomical’ Fees, Vintage Inspiration

Fashion week is upon us, but there’s one front row staple won’t be seen teetering around New York in sky-high heels and armfuls of bangles: Rachel Zoe. The stylist-turned-reality-star-turned-soon-to-be-mom is over seven months pregnant — her baby is due in March — which means she’s sitting tight in Los Angeles, but that doesn’t mean she’s sitting still. For one thing, she’s got Anne Hathaway’s Oscar outfits to figure out and the word on the street is that she doesn’t come cheap.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zoe’s fee is “astronomical” though “sources” were unwilling (or unable) to offer up specifics. They did, however, say:

“[Zoe's fee] hovers near the expenditures of what designer and longtime Nicole Kidman stylist L’Wren Scott spent on the show in 2000 as Oscar fashion coordinator. Scott had orchestra trumpeters wearing custom Donna Karan!”

Honestly, the woman is seriously pregnant and arguably one of the most famous and successful stylists in the world; we don’t blame her for shooting for the proverbial cash-money stars.

And while we’re on the Zoe press train, Style.com recently spoke to her about the collection she debuted back in January, and they asked her about that vintage-lookalike dress that caused such a stir amongst us bloggers. “I’ve been subconsciously building this collection in my mind for a long time,” Zoe told Style.com, adding, “There are a million vintage pieces that have inspired me, and every other designer in the world.”
