PHOTOS: Is This Ukrainian Teenager A Real-Life Anime Character?

From her intense makeup to her insane body proportions, 19-year-old Ukraine-native Anastasiya Shpagina bears a scary resemblance to a Japanese anime character. An anime character is like any other cartoon character — but ten times cuter, and often with brightly-colored hair, large eyes, a tiny nose, and unrealistic body proportions. We’ve seen Japanese girls dress up and make themselves over like anime characters before, but Shpagina has taken it to the next level.

Shpagina, who has even has chosen the Japanese name Fukkacumi, sports vibrant strands, huge eyes (most likely due to eye-enlarging circle lenses), a defined pout, and a straight, tiny nose. According to the Daily Mail, Shpagina spends an hour on her eye make-up, which includes eyeliner, shadow, and false eyelashes. She reportedly clocks in at five-foot-two, and weighs around 90 pounds. Her waist is shockingly disproportionate to the rest of her body, as is the case with anime characters. There haven’t been reports of any surgery, but there is speculation that she is planning to get surgery on her eyes to achieve bigger and more doll-like eyes.

She has over 3,000 YouTube subscribers since she joined in July 2011, and uploads videos of herself playing on a swing, petting her cat, walking through a “magic forest,” doing television interviews, and of course, make-up tutorials. Her 17 videos have garnered over a whopping 2.5 million views.

Interestingly, Shpagina is friends with “real-life Barbie“ Valeria Lukyanova. If you’ll recall, Lukyanova is the 21-year-old with large eyes, plastic-y skin, and blonde hair who bears an eery resemblance to to iconic doll. Shpagina and Lukyanova are from the same city of Odessa and are sometimes pictured together in Facebook photos.

We’re not sure what Shpagina is trying to achieve by becoming an anime character, but we’ve got to give it to her for being so dedicated to the cause. And at least she won’t need a Halloween costume this year.

Take a look at some of Shpagina’s photos below, and tell us what you think of this real-life anime character:

that’s just kinda scary, I’d love to see what they look like without makeup on and then see a before and after kinda deal…

  • Cindy

She photoshops her face to oblivion. But she does have body image issues.

I think the most disturbing photo is that last one. That vacant look really freaks me out.

Thats really, creepy. Why are there eyes so big?

  • Nobu

You can actually watch the eye make up tutorial… the eyes are not photoshopped. You get contacts to make them look bigger then use makeup to remake the shape. That is the result.

  • eatenbyashark

I agree that she is wearing the eye make up, but you can tell she photoshops her lips and stomach.

  • Nobu

Perhaps, my comment was to the remark about her face being photoshopped to hell though. Honestly the majority of change to the face is just makeup.

  • becka

That girl is the same age as me, she needs some serious help getting over her freakish obsession with her body image. I think she needs to focus more on what’s inside rather than outside. I bet there’s a beautiful woman hiding under all that makeup.

  • Lolydod

I love anime and as a charecter shes really pretty, BUT THIS IS REALLT NOT HEALTHY IM 12 AND I WEIGH OVER 90 POUNDS. SHE SHOULD INTAKE MORE FOOD OR THIS COULD LEAD TO ANOREXIA OR EXCESSIVE FAINTING.

P.S. srry if i spelled stuff wrong im 12

  • Sasara

I bet she’ll make some japanese hentai fan very happy one day…

  • Anonymous

I think this is very artistic and edgy, as long as the girls know they are NOT REALLY anime.

  • Shanna Thibodeaux

I think it is kind of pretty. If she is expressing herself and it makes her happy, more power to her. I wouldn’t judge.
