Why Rebecca Minkoff Felt Really Weird Being Out On FNO
Despite the mob of fashionable girls (and one adorable little boy) snapping photos with and of Rebecca Minkoff at Saks Fifth Avenue during Fashion’s Night Out, the designer seemed relaxed and ease. Almost eerily so, and she later admitted that it’s because she’s completely, 100 percent finished with her spring 2013 collection, which we’re livestreaming at 3 p.m. this afternoon.
“It’s lucky that we’re on schedule and we’ve done everything that we could do to make the best show we can,” she told us. “We’re done with the tailoring, the buttons, and everything — we’re ready. We are good to go. It’s done. Many people, including myself, were like, ‘We’re done, this is weird.’”
Most designers in her shoes would probably find some tiny detail to throw a fuss over. But that’s not Minkoff’s style. “I just try and remain calm because there’s enough people freaking out,” she explains. “We were joking today, and this girl who works for me used to work for someone else who would freak out. And I was like, ‘Tell me, what should I be doing?’ And she’s joking, and says, ‘Throw your phone on the ground, and throw this at that guy’s head, and I can’t believe people do that. Everyone’s working so hard, so be thankful.”
