When observing last night’s red carpets, the phrase “dressing for the occasion” comes to mind. At the United Nations‘ Every Woman Every Child dinner, stars like Christy Turlington-Burns, Lily Cole, and Debra Messing wore modest and subdued ensembles. But over in Sydney, Australia at Cosmopolitan‘s Fun Fearless Female Awards, the ladies either went with short and tight, or long and sheer.
The Every Woman Every Child initative was started by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, and is dedicated to the health problems that women and children face globally. Turlington-Burns opted for cropped bottoms, a button-down blouse, and a long jacket, while Messing chose a classic LBD. Our pick for best dressed goes to Indian actress and Goodwill Ambassador Aishwarya Rai, who looked stunning in a red long-sleeved sari with gold detailing.
Meanwhile, Aussies like Nikki Phillips, Havana Brown, and Sarah De Bono wore some typical red carpet wares. Phillips chose a pretty mint green number with a double thigh-high slit, Brown wore a yellow long-sleeved mini, and De Bono did her best impersonation of Katy Perry in a printed and ruffled frock, bright platforms, and even brighter hair.
