America’s Next Top Model Contestant Arrested For… Pretty Much Everything
Cycle 8 of America’s Next Top Model doesn’t exactly have an astounding track record for post-show success.
In 2012, five years after the season aired, an unrecognizable Jael Strauss appeared on Dr. Phil to seek help for a brutal meth addiction. And on Sunday it was revealed that Renee Alway, who placed third on that season of ANTM, was arrested after a six-hour armed standoff with a SWAT team in Palm Springs last month.
Alway is currently being held in Riverside County jail on a $150,000 bail, awaiting a hearing on a long string of serious felony charges. They include burglary, fraud, narcotics possession, forgery, resisting arrest, and committing a felony while on bail. On June 28, suspicious calls from neighbors led police to a condo complex, where they found Alway hiding in a garage holding a gun. The SWAT team then spent six hours outside the condo trying to coax out an armed man, who turned out not to exist.
Apparently it’s at least the fourth time this year that Palm Springs police have arrested the former model.
Poor girl. Having problems and then getting a hint of fame only make an addiction rise. They should have evaluated her a lot more before letting her on the show. All they saw was a personality good for television. Well, this hopefully will save at least her life and someone watching. Everything happens for a reason.
Renee had an equally ratings-friendly backstory herself. On an episode of Tyra’s Modelville she revealed that her father, a pastor and a policeman, was verbally and physically abusive. She, her siblings, and her mother Sandra were afraid to leave due to is respected position in the community.
Renee is due in an Indio courtroom Thursday for a drug count evaluation. See all the dirt in the video below.
