Tommy Hilfiger’s Rapper Son Thinks Alcohol Is For ‘Fags’
Via a deliciously underminey profile, the New York Observer teaches us why Tommy Hilfiger‘s son Rich Hilfiger is quite possibly the worst example of fashion progeny ever.
No, really, Rich Hil (stage name alert!) is a 21-year-old is a rapper by trade, and he lives with his fiancée in a Tommy-financed apartment in the Plaza. There are several incredibly ridiculous things Rich told the Observer‘s Dan Duray, so let’s just get to the good stuff. First, about that fiance:
“I used to look at her in ads when she was modeling for ads, like Akademiks in XXL. She used to be in those ads! Those ads I used to jerk off to as a kid! That’s my wife! It’s crazy, you know? I’ll find you one that I found recently of her. It was in Complex.” He called it up on his iPhone.
Oh, man. He also knows Stephanie Seymour‘s kid (though we think he’s referencing Dylan Andrews, not Peter Brant Jr.):
“You know the model Stephanie Seymour?” he said pointing at [FAO Schwartz]. “One time her son had a sleepover and they rented out the entire place. I wasn’t invited because I’d transferred to another school or something.”
And this is probably the worst thing he said:
“Yeah, I learned that alcohol and coke? Is kind of for faggots. You know, like, in my eyes. I’ll drink alcohol to get a lean, don’t get me wrong, but, like, something about the people who are addicted to alcohol and cocaine, they seemed like fags to me,” he said. “Not ‘fags’ as in ‘gay.’ I have nothing against gay people. Mad people in my family are gay.”
There’s also a bit about Tommy allowing him ”to take formative weekend trips to Philadelphia at age 15 with the family bodyguard to visit friends he’d made in the hip-hop community.” You see, Tommy loves Rich’s music! He even told the paper, “I love and admire my son’s musical talent and am tremendously proud of his passion for his work.” There are about a million more things we wanted to excerpt from the piece, but you really just need to read it for yourself here.
