Rihanna Pays Her Hair Stylist $22,000 A Week

No hair color is worth $22,706 a week – especially when it’s Rhianna’s red hair, which long overstayed its welcome. The Daily Mail reports that RiRi employed hair stylist Ursula Stephen, who charges $3,243 a day, to help maintain her rouge locks.

One Rihanna roadie said, “Ursula is a close confidante and they [she and Rihanna] are together all the time. Most of these costs are paid for by her management.” While the singer’s carrot top looked like it took some high maintenance, we find it hard to believe Rihanna’s management was willing to shell out that much cash — especially when the results were a less than a million-dollar look.

While we’re on the subject of Rihanna’s hair, can we just say Hallelujah! We were starting to think the singer’s Jessica Rabbit-colored ‘do was a permanent thing, but the above photo was snapped on Monday and shows the star has gone back to her natural shade (or something like it.)

Maybe keeping the red really was as pricey as The Daily Mail claims and Rihanna’s return to brown was a management move to cut costs. Whatever the reason, to whoever convinced RiRi to get rid of the red: thank you.

The outrageous singer changed her hairstyle a whopping 13 times while sporting her red mane. Fingers crossed the new ‘do is here to stay!

i think rihanna would look so pretty if she simply did a pixie cut with jet black hair. her face is MADE for a pixie cut, or atleast somrthing short. even a bob would look cute. as long as her hair is black and short, i think she will be gorgeous!

I agree that Ursula’s styling isn’t always the best. However Rihanna has this rockstar appeal about her where she can pull off pretty much anything. I disagree w/ the author I miss the red hair it was gorgeous and LOUD like this current era. Dependent on the style long hair suits her but short hair is definitely the winner.

As a 13-year veteran in the salon and entertainment worlds of beauty, I’m certain that Rihanna was paying for more than just “red hair.” She was paying for the weaves, wigs, relaxers, color, cuts, styles, creativity, expertise, collaboration with other glam team members, crazy hours… and exclusivity/ private sessions with her hairstylist. Ursula is obviously at the top of her game and peak of her career… so a $3000+ day rate is not unreasonable, especially when the client is Rihanna. Freelance artists rates cannot be compared to typical salon prices… not even high-end salons. Celebrity & corporate clients usually pay a premium for having a professional glam squad on hand, especially when travel and open-ended hours are involved.
