Rihanna Responds To Racist Fashion Magazine Piece: ‘F*** YOU!!!’

Rihanna is pissed — and rightfully so.

The pop star has responded to the racist piece published by Dutch fashion magazine Jackie following an apology by editor-in-chief Eva Hoeke. Hoeke’s apology came via Jackie‘s Facebook page, but Rihanna took to Twitter to ream Hoeke out:

@evajackie I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000′s of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That’s your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past! You put two words together,

@evajackie with the intent of abasement, that made no sense…”NIGGA BITCH”?!….Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you…FUCK YOU!!!

Quite a few of Rihanna’s 10.8 million followers have also expressed their outrage on Twitter. Hoeke has yet to respond, though some are tweeting that she’s quit her job. While this is unsubstantiated, we wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out to be true.

The editor of Jackie just quit her job.

I liked how Rihanna responded, minus the cussing naturally.  I don’t understand those that feel they have to involve race and race-related elements gratuitously into dialogues.  Although from what I interpreted, the magazine was trying to be ‘hip’ and ‘slang’, it just came across wrongly.  The word ‘n***a’ especially will never be any word of endearment – no matter how much African Americans want to reclaim it as so only within the confines of their community – because it’s too fraught with centuries of degradation and humiliation and it’s a bigger pity that it’s being used especially by the very people whom it was coined to stigmatise in the first place.
