Rihanna To Rolling Stone: Chris Brown Is ‘Not The Monster Everybody Thinks’
At this point, it’s pretty safe to say that any cover story on Rihanna will touch heavily on another, less savory figure: Chris Brown, her 2009 domestic assailant and now on-again boyfriend. The pop star was photographed for the February 14 issue of Rolling Stone by that other gleaming example of morality, Terry Richardson, and inside the glossy she opens up about making mistakes, coping with judgment, and what happens if Brown “f*cks up again.”
In short, she says, he “doesn’t have the luxury” of doing so. “That’s just not an option. I can’t say that nothing else will ever go wrong. But I’m pretty solid in the knowing that he’s disgusted by that. And I wouldn’t have gone this far if I ever thought that was a possibility.”
As for the pervasive opinion that Brown is still the same old miscreant he was before, based on his recent nightclub fights, parking lot altercations, questionable neck tattoos, and the like, Rihanna says she still has faith:
“I know it comes off like that. And it doesn’t help. For a long time he was really angry, and he felt like he couldn’t get away from it, no matter what he did. But there’s so many reasons why I ever reconsidered having him in my life. He’s not the monster everybody thinks. He’s a good person. He has a fantastic heart. He’s giving and loving. And he’s fun to be around. That’s what I love about him – he always makes me laugh. All I want to do is laugh, really – and I do that with him.”
Will you be picking up the issue when it hits stands tomorrow? Or is this one celeb couple you’d prefer not to read up on?
