PHOTOS: Rooney Mara Wears Valentino For Roman Premiere Of Dragon Tattoo

Rooney Mara is still on her world subjugation tour — erm, we mean, promoting The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo — so yesterday she stopped to let the good people of Italy know just how she would prefer them to worship her. And she did it in perhaps the girliest dress we’ve seen her wear yet: a classic Valentino red.

Mara donned the dress, a red number with a lacy bodice and sheer sleeves, at the film’s Roman premiere yesterday. It’s a gorgeous, gorgeous dress, and she paired it with a gorgeous smoky eye and the barest suggestion of a pink lip stain. But she wasn’t wearing it the entire time she was there. At the photocall for the premiere earlier in the day, Mara slipped into a black leather dress by designer Dion Lee that she paired with minimal makeup and a pair of grey suede platforms. These dresses are almost the perfect allegory for the brief, glamorous transformation her character goes through in the movie — but we won’t say anything else about it for fear of spoiling the fun for those of you who haven’t seen it yet.

Anyhow, we really appreciate what a distinct look Mara is creating while wearing so many different designers. So far she’s worn everyone from Givenchy to Prabal Gurung to Louis Vuitton and Rodarte. Take a look at the Valentino below and try not to tear your hair out over the glamour.

That is a VERY pretty dress and that red is so classic. I just wonder why she’s working the heavy blunt goth bangs? I mean I understand her movie publicist probably wants her to still resemble Lisbeth but she could trim the bangs so they are less severe. It’s not like she’s already filming he sequel since she’s on a publicity junket or whatever they’re called now…

At least she’s wearing colour! People say a lot about her style but I actually like that she doesn’t look like every other Hollywood twat.

Lisbeth’s bangs are much, much shorter. She’s just growing them out right now, probably so she can start making other movies before she has to start the sequels.
