The Official Royal Wedding Guest List (& Seating Chart) Are Here!

With the royal wedding less than a week away, the full and official guest list (and seating chart!) for Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s nuptials have been released.

We weren’t able to comb through all 1900 guests, but we have picked out the ones you’ll actually care about. As expected, the British royal family is more than accounted for, as are foreign royals from Bahrain, Greece, Malaysia, Denmark, Morocco, Yugoslavia, Swaziland, Spain, and more. (We didn’t even know that most of those countries had royal families!) As far as political figures go, only those from Commonwealth countries were included. (This means the prime minister of Australia is in, while the Obamas are out.)

Religious leaders, military officers, business execs, and friends of the couple round out the rest of the invites. But what about the celebrities? We can now add Mario Testino, Rowan Atkinson, Joss Stone, and Ian Thorpe to a list that we already knew included Elton John, the Beckhams, and Guy Ritchie.

The front row of Westminster Abbey will be filled by Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla, and Prince Harry on one side and the Middletons on the other. Princess Diana‘s family will be seated up front with the Middletons, while 1000 of the guests will have seats with restricted views. We don’t know about you, but even a restricted view seat seems pretty awesome in this situation. Did we mention we can’t wait for Friday?

Any Americans on the guest list? It doesn’t look like it — our president has given his middle finger to the British too many times.

But it would have been nice if George and Laura Bush had been invited — as a way of saying, “we understand what is going on in America and we do not think all of you are our enemies.”

  • John de Portolès

Obama hasn’t been invited not because “he gave the middle finger” (a point I would contest anyway) but because this isn’t a state occasion, as William isn’t heir to the throne (and won’t be until Charles becomes King). As such, protocol does not oblige them to invite any head of state — those “heads of state” that have been invited are all fellow monarchs and, in the case of European kings/queens/princes, are related to William, generally through Queen Victoria.

The Bush family was and still is an embarrassment to the U.S.A. They created the mess we are in now economically. Please stop getting your “news” from Fox.

exactly and don’t know what they are talking about.

maybe it’s simply because America isn’t and never will be part of the Commonwealth! just get over it!!

In a royal family wedding usually politicians are not invited. It has nothing to do with your claim of giving the finger (you must be a republkan). Only those members of the Euro Group. A royal wedding is reserved for royalty and their subjects. And thank God we don’t have Bush going to embarss the US.

No one can match the embarrassment that Obama and his wife have caused this nation. He is persona non grata in the UK and throughout much of Europe.

It is time to quit blaming Bush for all the crime and corruption that Obama has brought into the White House since he was elected.

I don’t. I blame Bush for the crime and corruption he himself brought!
Obama is far from perfect, I will grant. Presidents are human. Humans corrupt things.

Some of the foreign royal guests are in fact the descendants of those deposed between/during/after the World Wars. So, technically they are royal families without countries. For example the Jugoslav/Serbian Karageorgevich (Damn that’s hard to spell in the English alphabet) dynasty, was more or less removed in ’41, with combination of German invasion and internal Communist Partizan resistance, and hasn’t ruled anything since.
Just for example. And I’ve totally oversimplified.
But, no, some of the countries technically don’t have royals. And yet they do. Almost a parallel world/alternate reality going on there, really.

Embarass, yeah right. NOBODY has embarassed the US like the Obamas have.
