PHOTOS: This Dress Is Made Out Of 12,000 Rubber Bands

Our friends over at Geekosystem alerted us to the existence of this really amazing rubber band dress designed by architect Margarita Mileva. Inspired by Paul Klee and Bauhaus, Mileva entered her fanciful design in Berlin’s WEAR IS ART competition.

Explains MoCo Loco:

The dress uses four kilograms, 8.8 pounds, of rubber bands of various colors, lengths and sizes. Approximately 14,235 rubber bands in total, 12,000 for the dress itself, 2,225 for the belt and 100 for the hair piece.

So. Many. Rubber. Bands. This isn’t the first rubber band dress Mileva has designed (don’t worry — we included pics of her designs below), and she also makes rubber band jewelry that you can buy on Etsy. Her stuff kind of reminds us of that inventive neon water tube dress, and also of Marc Jacobs‘s amazing beaded creation for Louis Vuitton‘s spring 2011 show.
