WATCH: Aussie Women Break Record For Running In Heels

Four Australian women broke the Guinness world record for running in heels yesterday. Shamelessly, we took our loafers off as soon as we got home.

Still, it’s hard not to be impressed by an assemblage of over a hundred women (and one guy!) who can sprint down hot asphalt in three-inch stilettos. Teams of four ran an 80 meter relay race in Sydney, Australia to benefit that country’s National Breast Cancer Foundation. The winning team, called The Pinkettes, managed to run the race in an minute and four seconds, and plan to use their $10,000 prize money for a trip to Thailand.

It looks painful and hugely dangerous to the ankles and whatnot, but one of the racers told ITN News that it’s all in the technique.

“If you run on your toes, the heel doesn’t even touch the ground so it’s just like sprinting,” she said.

Not having sprinted since junior high, we wouldn’t know if that’s true or not. Watch:
