Did Sadie Frost’s Tween Daughter Wear LFW’s Most Controversial Dress?

Who knew one candy-printed dress could cause so much trouble? On Sunday, Sadie Frost (also known as Kate Moss‘ BFF and Jude Law‘s ex-wfe) took her 12-year-old daughter, Iris, to Vivienne Westwood‘s Red Label fall 2012 show. For the occasion, Iris dressed up in a candy-heart printed dress, which she paired with white lace tights and an artfully distressed blazer. And that’s where the trouble started.

Apparently unbeknownst to both Iris and her mother, the little hearts on the dress were filled with not-so-PG phrases like “Blow Me”, “Choke”, “Drink Poison,” and, our personal favorite, “Eat Shit”. Oops.

By Monday, Frost had apologized, tweeting:

I seem to have upset people & am shocked myself about the dress Iris wore to Vivienne Westwoods show. Iris had been bought it d as a present

i assumed it was just the sayings the sweets have on them. I’m sorry for any upset it may have caused..Iris is a sweet, innocent girl.

we were enjoying a day out with my mum me @ iris and it was a lovey day.I guess the dress should be hidden till she’s older..#genuinemistake

Take a look at the dress below and tell us what you think: absolutely inappropriate? Or innocent mistake?

UPDATE: The dress is by designer Oliver Sykes and was reportedly purchased by Jude Law for his daughter. Sykes tweeted at Law on Monday:

mad props on getting iris the drop dead hearts dress. she can have as much drop dead stuff as she wants for free now!

email robbie.hart@iheartdropdead.com if you want anymore free stuff

  • Yotz18

    its cool…

  • bozekmm

Accident or not, how could they not notice what the hearts say?

  • jill snowden

totally on purpose.  unless they can’t read – which would not be surprising either.

It’s cute and funny. People should really get off their high-horse the dress is funny and makes fun of a holiday that’s money off of making millions of singles lonely. I say “shut the front door” and get a sense of humor people!

People should really get off their high-horse the dress is cute and  funny.  It makes fun of a holiday that makes millions of dollars by emphasising the only way to show someone you love them is to spend money. Another over the top commercial holiday.   I say “shut the front door” and get a sense of humor people! Side Note: I should not try to leave comments while multi-tasking. I’m sure the grammar police will have a field day with my first post.

I call bullshit on this one. Those hearts are huge. It’s clear what they say

  • kahassen

I completely agree. “Oh mom, this heart says….. EAT SH*T” I mean come on!

  • Xtavia

Honeslty someone tell me why it matters what the hearts say?

  • Anonymous

Hillarious! Totally an innocent mistake as far as I’m concerned. What 12 yr old girl actually reads what’s on conversation hearts anyway?  They just like them cause they look cool.

Mello out folks, especially you “oh my gawd! did you see that?!?!” religious nutcases. It’s just a kids dress.

  • Caitlinmeatsix

Oliver Sykes who designed the dress found it absolutely hilarious and even tweeted Jude Law saying thanks for buying the dress for Iris. GO OLI!!

i”d wear it, but I’m grown. it”s the perfect anti-valentine’s day dress.

  • Bikerk

Because a 12 year old girl shouldn’t be wearing a dress that says “blow me”.  If you don’t get that then there’s really something wrong with you.

  • Zeta43

Apparently unbeknownst to both Iris and her mother,”  I knew it…models can’t read. That’s why they’re not embarassed to be in the fashion industry. They can’t read – Thank you for such a brilliant journalistic insight.

  • Zeta43

her 12-year-old daughter,     The child wearing this “blow me” dress is 12. Is there not a Children’s Aid Society (Child Welfare?) in the UK? Why were they not called? These parents are recklessly playing with their daughter’s sexuality. But…oh…I see… my former conclusion on the post above (models can’t read) applies here too….they and their fashionista friends can’t read…so they haven’t read anything about the oversexualization of young women…and they can’t read the phone number of Children’s Aid….  So it isn’t that they won’t take themselves seriously, it’s that they can’t.

Not a good kid’s dress by any means, but damn cute and pretty funny. It actually is currently all the rage in fairy kei fashion since Angelic Pretty’s (very innocent) print Sugar Hearts exploded. A lot of people with a more tongue-in-cheek sense of humor went for it since it was cheaper and a lot easier to wear than a big floofy dress.
