CONFIRMED: Sally Singer Named EIC Of T Magazine
We’ve been waiting anxiously for the announcement of the next editor in chief of T Magazine to be announced ever since Stefano Tonchi left for W. Reported first by Derek Blasberg’s twitter — and soon after by BryanBoy, who’s always quick to spread a good fashion newsbit — and then finally confirmed by the New York Times: Sally Singer has left her position as Fashion News Director at Vogue to pick up where Tonchi left off at T. Those rumors were true.
“As her resume — and her successes at Vogue — will testify, she has the combination of aesthetic sense and intellectual curiosity suited to a style magazine that wears the name of The New York Times,” Bill Keller, executive editor of The Times said in a note to the staff. “We were looking for someone with the imagination and taste to envision the next generation of this extraordinary franchise, and the experience to make it happen.”
We have no doubt that Singer, who has been influential in pushing Vogue to modernize itself and keep up with new designers, is up to the task. We’re confident in her resume and exquisite taste level that she’ll do T Magazine justice as their next editor in chief. The looming question now? Who will take her place at Vogue?
